The nature yurt at Kirchenwald is both an environmental resource center and a hands-on learning museum. Campers can access a multitude of field guides; see and feel examples of tanned deer hides, turtle shells, and birds’ nests; assemble a deer skeleton; track constellations; compare fossils; and feel sand from all across the globe in the World Famous Sand Museum. During the summer program, campers often study snakes, toads, and turtles who live, temporarily, in the yurt.
